Topic: Uskoro knjiga o PCBSD

Direktno sa bloga autora:

I'm about 2/3 of the way through book #3 on BSD, tentatively titled "The Definitive Guide to PC-BSD". This book will be through Apress, and I'm excited that it will include a live DVD of PC-BSD 8.0 so you can follow along as you read it. The book is designed for users new to BSD up to existing PC-BSD/FreeBSD power users. Think of it as the type of book new users can grow into while existing users can still find nuggets of "I didn't know that". I've also concentrated on the importance of community--a concept new users aren't used to and most tech books never mention. Here is the Table of Contents:

Foreward: Kris Moore

Part 1: Getting Started with PC-BSD

Chapter 1: Introducing PC-BSD
Chapter 2:  Installing PC-BSD

Part 2: Using PC-BSD

Chapter 3: Customizing the Desktop
Chapter 4: Getting Around
Chapter 5: Performing Common Tasks
Chapter 6: User System Settings
Chapter 7: Administrative System Settings

Part 3: Software

Chapter 8: Push Button Installer System
Chapter 9: FreeBSD Packages
Chapter 10: FreeBSD Ports

Part 4: Community

Chapter 11: Getting Help
Chapter 12: Getting Involved

Part 5: Going Beyond the Basics

Chapter 13: Advanced Tasks
Chapter 14: Becoming a developer

Amazon (US, Canada, UK) is taking pre-orders and it looks like the book will be available in February.

The best way to learn UNIX is to play with it, and the harder you play, the more you learn.
If you play hard enough, you'll break something for sure, and having to fix a badly broken system is arguably the fastest way of all to learn. -Michael Lucas, AbsoluteBSD
